Is Education Compulsory for Environmental Quality An Empirical Study on EKC and Education Nexus

Studies analyzing the environmental impacts of economic growth and considering nexus between stages development remain popular since 90s. The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis suggests that there is an inverted-U-shape relationship per capita income damage to environment. Within vast EKC literature, various variables may have impact on pollution were included in models. However, studies examine effect education quality are relatively new. In this study, tested terms level by using data from period 1998-2014 47 countries. measured carbon dioxide capita; GDP capita, number students enrolled tertiary share public expenditures GDP. According empirical findings; (i) confirmed for only education, (ii) a significant negative CO2 emissions. Therefore can be evaluated as powerful tool policy.
